I do not question the First Amendment right of the Santa Cruz Sentinel to have an Editorial Board member endorse candidate Coonerty 10+ months in advance of the election. I question the ethics of such a ploy.
The Santa Cruz Sentinel has every right to have an Editorial Board member endorse candidate Coonerty 10+ months in advance of the election. I have every right to not talk to the Sentinel until Ceil Cirillo is removed from their Editorial Board.
I can’t demand Cirillo’s Editorial Board removal so I must exclude myself from Sentinel reporter direct contact. I feel sorry for the Sentinel staff. My pity does not extend to justify an Editorial Board member endorsing my opponent without reprisal. There must be consequences, and they must be fair and balanced.
I hold the Santa Cruz Sentinel in contempt to allow such impropriety to not be ethically addressed.
